“I always felt a little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public, as much as I love the Lord and as much as it was an important part of my life. I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have my entire time in public life,” Vance told the crowd. “That is an undeniable legacy of the great Charlie Kirk. You know, he loved God. And because he loved God, he wanted to understand God’s creation and the men and women made in his image. Now much has been said over the last week about Charlie’s ability to approach any topic.”
The vice president went on to describe Kirk as a down to earth, kind person, which was especially evident behind closed doors. Kirk treated every staffer, supporter and anyone he met with the same kindness and respect he would show to President Trump and the most prominent political figures in the world, he added.
Vance then directed his attention to the outpouring of hatred and celebration of Kirk’s murder from the radical left, but also made sure to highlight the courage and spirit of revival displayed by Kirk’s supporters following the assassination. He further stated that over the past 11 days, he has wished he could ask Kirk for his thoughts on the current situation."
