Sugar is poison: US health secretary calls for new dietary guidelines
"U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr called sugar "poison"

during a press conference. He urged Americans to cut added sugar from their diets entirely, although he acknowledged that a complete ban may not be possible.
"I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate sugar, but we need to give Americans clear information about how much sugar is in their food and how much they should actually be consuming, which is zero," Kennedy said.
He said that stronger labelling laws and new federal dietary guidelines by the government will help people avoid added sugar, which has long been linked to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease."
