"Within hours of taking his oath of office, the 47th president unveiled a torrent of executive orders aimed at priorities as sweeping as securing the border to reducing the cost of living and enacting tariffs on freeloading foreign nations.
Among the first was a ceremonial order renaming the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America,” a designation that has drawn sharp criticism from the presidents of Mexico and Panama. Other landmarks and bodies of water bearing Trump’s rebranding were also part of the order.
“We’ll be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring,” Trump told reporters in Florida last week. “That covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. It is appropriate.”
One executive order will do away with former President Joe Biden’s implementation of a non-binary gender option on federal government documents like birth certificates and Social Security forms. Another will rescind diversity, equity, and inclusion standards across the U.S. military.
“I will reinstate any service members unjustly expelled for objecting to the Covid vaccine mandate, with full back pay. And I will sign an order to stop our warriors from being subjected to radical political theories and experiments while on duty – it’s going to end immediately,” Trump said to a standing ovation on Monday.
“With my actions today, we will end the Green New Deal, and we will revoke the EV mandate, saving our auto industry and keeping my sacred pledge to our great American auto workers,” Trump said to sustained cheers. “In other words, you’ll be able to buy the car of your choice. We will build autos in America again at a rate nobody could have dreamt possible a few years ago. Thank you to auto workers for your inspiring vote of confidence.”
