JD Vance Promises to Carry On Legacy of ‘True Friend’ ‘Wasn’t Just a Thinker, He Was a Doer’ ‘You Ran a Good Race… We’ve Got It from Here’
"Vice President JD Vance called Charlie Kirk a “true friend” who contributed directly to much of the success of President Donald Trump’s administration in a heartfelt statement after the conservative star’s assassination.

His statement to X late Wednesday night comes just hours after a still at-large assassin shot Kirk at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University promoting civil discourse.
The Vice President praised Kirk for his willingness to listen, learn, and engage in the open discussion of ideas – a trait for which Kirk became known and, tragically, what he was doing at the event at the moment his life was taken.
“Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016,” Vance posted. “Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives.....You ran a good race, my friend,” Vance said to his friend. We’ve got it from here.”
